Montgomery Baptist Association has three Disaster Relief teams representing two churches, First Baptist and Vaughn Forest Churches, and our association of 70+ churches. Volunteers are recruited from our Southern Baptist Churches, trained, and credentialed through the Alabama State Baptist Disaster Relief. Teams not only serve locally and throughout the United States but internationally as well. Local teams assist not just in major disasters but assist churches in their communities after strong storms to remove trees from homes and driveways. Insurance is not required and payments are not requested or accepted for services provided.
All volunteer response teams are deployed when a disaster occurs, based on needs assessed by the state coordinator. The MBA deploys volunteer teams trained in areas like Administration, Chainsaw, Cleanup/Recovery, Chaplaincy, and Mudout. State Baptist Disaster Relief training is offered annually in March and April and can be offered through associations and churches throughout the year based on local needs. Visit sbdr.org for details.
For those not able to volunteer, but have a heart for supporting others that can, you can give to support the supply of necessary equipment and deployment needs at mgmbaptists.org/disaster.
